Frequently Asked Questions

Specification, application and maintenance answers from the Terraco Bangladesh technical team in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

How do I choose the right exterior finish for a building in Bangladesh?
Choose a finish rated for high humidity, monsoon rain and UV exposure. Terraco recommends a full system — primer, base coat and an acrylic or silicone textured topcoat — rather than paint alone, because the system moves with the substrate and resists hairline cracking. Our Dhanmondi Experience Center advises on specification per facade orientation.
What are the benefits of low-VOC and sustainable finishing materials?
Low-VOC materials improve indoor air quality, reduce site odour and support green building credits under LEED and EDGE. Terraco's EcoLife range is VOC-free, and our reflective exterior finishes lower surface temperature, cutting cooling loads. Over a building's life this reduces both maintenance cycles and energy cost.
How can I verify the quality of imported finishing materials?
Ask for the manufacturer's technical data sheet, batch number and third-party test reports before delivery. Terraco products are produced to ISO 9001 standards across 23 factories, and every batch supplied in Bangladesh carries traceable documentation. You can also inspect applied samples at our Dhanmondi Experience Center before committing.
Does Terraco Bangladesh provide on-site technical support?
Yes. Our technical team supports architects and contractors with substrate assessment, system specification, mock-up panels, applicator training and site inspection during application. This is offered for facade finishes, EIFS, waterproofing and flooring projects. Contact info@lavishobm.com to arrange a project review or site visit.
Where can I see Terraco products before specifying them?
Visit the Terraco Bangladesh Experience Center at Rupayan Khan Plaza, House 500, Road 07, Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. It displays applied texture panels, colour ranges and full system build-ups so you can compare finishes in person. Open Saturday to Thursday, 10:00 to 18:00.
How long does a Terraco textured facade finish last in Bangladesh?
A correctly specified Terraco facade system — primer, base coat and acrylic or silicone textured topcoat — typically performs for 10 to 15 years before recoating in Dhaka's climate. Service life depends on substrate preparation, film thickness and exposure; north-facing and shaded elevations usually last longest.
What surface preparation is required before applying Terraco products?
Substrates must be sound, clean, dry and free of laitance, dust, oil and loose material. New concrete or render needs 28 days curing. Repair cracks and honeycombing first, then apply the matching Terraco primer to even out suction before the base or finish coat.
Can Terraco coatings be applied during the monsoon season?
Yes, with planning. Avoid application when rain is expected within four hours or when the substrate reads above the moisture limit in the data sheet. Work on sheltered elevations, use scaffold sheeting, and allow longer curing because high humidity slows film formation.
Does Terraco Bangladesh supply technical data sheets and safety data sheets?
Yes. Every product supplied in Bangladesh carries a technical data sheet with coverage, dilution, drying times and system build-up, plus a safety data sheet. Request them for any product by emailing info@lavishobm.com or visiting the Dhanmondi Experience Center.
How is coverage calculated for a Terraco coating?
Divide the coated area by the data-sheet coverage rate, then add 10 to 15 percent for texture, substrate roughness and wastage. Textured finishes consume far more material than paint because coverage depends on aggregate size — 1.5 mm grain uses roughly double a 0.5 mm grain.
Do you provide applicator training and certification?
Yes. The Dhanmondi Experience Center runs hands-on applicator training covering mixing, trowel and spray technique, film build and curing in humid conditions. Contractor crews working on specified projects can be certified so the finish quality matches the approved mock-up panel.
